Blanket Care

You can expect better blanket care when you use Horses Etc., CT. Each blanket is inventoried, prepped, repaired and packaged by the owner, not an employee. No charge for neck covers or extra large blankets; some discounts may apply. Also offering same-day service, by appointment only. Please call or email for details.

In a time crunch leaving the office? Weekend plans suddenly formed, but what to do about the farm and animals? I'm here to help and am Bonded & Insured through Petsitters Associates/ Markel Insurance. Please call for pricing and availability. Prices start at $20 per visit. You're hiring me, the owner, a retired equine vet tech, with over 30 years in the horse industry. Not an employee. Your animals are special to you and will treat them as if they are my own.

Body Clipping, Sheath Cleaning

Grooming Services

Much as you love them, there are unpleasant parts to horse ownership. I offer body clipping and sheath cleaning for the owner who'd rather spend their time riding. I can also provide instruction on body clipping, sheath cleaning, or general horsemanship for individuals or groups. Please email or call for pricing.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ABOUT THOSE BLANKETS...

  • Free pick up and delivery for 10+ blankets or repair items. Always call to confirm. 

  • Be sure blankets are bagged, and tagged with your requested service, your name, phone number, and email address. A sharpie on duct tape on the bag works well.

  • For washing, it's $18 for sheets, coolers or quarter sheets.. $25 for blankets. Throw a saddle pad, trunk cover or quilts in your bag and I'll wash them no charge, so long as it fits in the same load.

  • I do not offer dry cleaning.

  • Turn-outs are washed with Rambo Blanket wash, to help prolong water-resistance. Blankets are ONLY line dried. 

  • Nikwax Rug Waterproofing done by sponge -application method in temperatures above 70 degrees. $30 for blanket or sheet waterproofing, plus wash fee. 

  • I do recycle when mending blankets, so often materials are free of charge. If you require an exact match, please let me know. Repairs performed on clean items only. Repairs billed at actual time spent, ($25/ hour) plus materials. 

  • Blankets are returned in a sealed plastic bag (not intended for storage). If you require a more durable, re-usable, zip-close bag, please let me know.

  • Each blanket is treated with Essential Oil of Peppermint prior to packaging, to help deter mice. And to Thank You, for your business.

ABOUT FARM-SITTING & PET CARE

  • Please call or text to confirm availability well before your need. 

  • Prices depend upon location, farm-or walk set up, and time required. I offer 'Day Rate' billing which includes over night stays, or 'Per Visit' billing, with discounts for multiple visits booked in advance. Initial interviews are performed free of charge, up to an hour, depending upon availability.

  • Certificate of Insurance available upon request. A contract will be emailed for your review before start of service.

  • My speciality is horses, however dogs, cats, chickens, pigs, birds and fish (Etc.!) are all lovingly cared for. 

About Grooming (Horses Only)

  • Please call for pricing of all services. Quantity discounts may apply.

  • Typical grooming requests are: Sheath cleaning, body clipping, show trim, banding/ braiding manes.

  • It is my firm policy to not administer any injectable sedation. However, many animals are cooperative despite a history of protest. If your horse does require sedation, I am happy to accommodate your veterinarian's schedule.
